Begin with a private tour of Chile’s bustling capital, Santiago. Make your way from the ornate facades, fountains, and stairways of Santa Lucia Hill to the Plaza de Armas.

Marvel at the impressive Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture of the Cathedral de Santiago, visit the elegant and historic Central Post Office, explore the National History Museum, and walk through the expansive government palace, La Moneda. Explore the captivating artistic legacy within the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art before a fresh seafood lunch in the Central Market. Drive through Santiago’s Bohemian quarter, Barrio Bellavista, on your way to San Cristóbal Hill, where you’ll enjoy uninterrupted views of the city below and beyond. Indulge in local gastronomic delights, including Peruvian fusion-inspired ceviche at La Mar, expertly paired dishes with local wine at Bocanariz, or sushi at the unique Oasaka.

Explore the 550 hectares of magnificent grapevines and contemporary architecture of the Pérez Cruz Vineyard in the heart of Maipo Alto. Sample the incredible selection of local Cabernet Sauvignon, Cot, Carménère, Merlot, Syrah, and Petit Verdot before venturing to the UNESCO-recognized Valparaiso. Discover the Jewel of the Pacific’s impressive architecture, cobblestone streets, harbour, and downtown area before ascending to the colourful houses in the hills via the city’s iconic century-old cable cars.

Fly across the Pacific to the remote Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Witness the sunrise from the ceremonial Ahu Tongariki complex in Hanga Nui Bay before hiking through a eucalyptus forest from the base of the Ma’unga Tervaka Volcano. Rise 500 m / 1,650 ft above sea level to the peak, exploring volcanic basins, cones, and crater lakes throughout your journey. Return to sea level and visit the seven fierce moai of Ahu Akivi, looking out across the ocean before watching the sunset over the sparkling Pacific Ocean waves from Ahu Tahai.

Santiago (Valparaiso)

Santiago, with over four million people, is the fifth-largest city in South America. Standing in a wide plain 1,800 feet above sea level, Santiago boasts a beautiful setting. Snow-capped peaks of the Andes chain provide a dramatic backdrop. Tastefully laid-out public gardens contribute to the beauty of the city. However, Santiago also suffers from horrendous traffic and a high percentage of pollution. The heart of Santiago is the Plaza de Armas, flanked by the cathedral, the archbishop’s palace, the National History Museum and fine arcaded buildings lined with shops. The two-mile-long Avenida O’Higgins is the major thoroughfare, commonly known as the Alameda. There is a splendid view over the city from San Cristobal Hill, crowned by the statue of the Virgin Mary.

Santiago

Santiago is a huge city of nearly five million inhabitants surrounded by immense Andean peaks creating a spectacular backdrop. The city centre is quite manageable with a collection of wide avenues, squares and parks all laid out in a grid pattern. Chile has a distinctly European flavour and Santiago will bring this home to you as you visit the churches, monuments and museums all designed in a certain familiar style.
