Trip Overview:
Embark on this immersive 8-day Chile vacation from the vibrant capital, Santiago, to Puerto Montt on an immersive 6-day expedition cruise.
Acquaint yourself with Santiago’s storied past on an exciting half-day walking tour. Begin in the heart of the city and wind your way up the historic Santa Lucía Hill to the Torre Mirador viewpoint for unparalleled city views, including an aerial view of the Plaza de Armas, where Santiago was founded in 1541. Sample some coffee at a local cafe before continuing to the Central Market, the Vega Chica Market, and a beautiful flower market for a delicious and immersive journey into Santiago’s best flavours, scents, and colours.
Leave the city buzz behind and venture to Puerto Montt and board the spacious Skorpios II for your 6-day expedition cruise between the Chilean Lake District and Patagonia. Set sail through the Llanquihue archipelago to the beautiful Chiloe Island where you’ll disembark and explore the local markets, cafes, and the Francisco Coloane Museum. Continue your cruise to Puerto Aguirre through the Gulf of Corcovado and the Moraleda and Ferronave channels. Disembark and stroll through the fishing village streets to a native Patagonian forest before sailing to the Islote Barrientos, where you’ll find Chile’s largest bird colonies.
Continue sailing to either Celta Quesahuen or Punta Lepoardos for your overnight anchor near the San Rafael Glacier. Marvel at the sunrise’s array of colours reflected on the glacier and nearby icebergs before venturing to the Quitralco Fjord, where you’ll enjoy a small boat excursion into the fjord and a relaxing experience at the nearby hot springs. Return to the ship and set sail through the Moraleda and Perz Norte channels en route to Chiloe Island and the Gulf of Corcovado. Be sure to catch the local humpback and blue whales swimming in the gulf’s early morning waters before visiting Dalcahue.
